Sunday Brisket

Sunday_Brisket__SMSunday Brisket –What can I say? It is perfect for a Sunday dinner.

I had never cooked a brisket until my husband decided to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a cattle rancher. I really always thought it was a barbeque sort of thing which I love sticky fingers and all but I have come to really love it in the winter. Braising is the theme of our cooking life during the cold months. This is a slight adaptation from The Pioneer Woman Cooks. That Ree really knows what to do with beef. She does after all live on a cattle ranch in the middle of nowhere! I love that she refers to her husband a Marlboro Man. I need to come up with something clever to call Christopher soon. If you don’t follow her you really should check her out. Back to the brisket… nothing more to say than it is easy as pie (although pie isn’t that easy for me as I am not a baker) and the kids gobble this up!

We serve it over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles or polenta. My daughter Audrey made the
suggestion of adding frozen green peas to it and we’ve been hooked ever since. They add a fresh little
crunch and sweetness and one move serving of veggies for the day. Go Mom!

Happy cooking!
